We're thrilled to offer this collection from French silk thread merchants Au Ver a Soie! These beautiful stranded silk threads come in 5 metre skeins with 7 strands and can be used for all embroidery projects. The luminosity of the hand-dyed silk is second to none and will add a new level of beauty to your work. Conversion charts are readily available for most common stranded cotton brands to Soie d'Alger.

Here is what Au Ver a Soie say about the thread: "This silk is loosely plyed and can be split easily. The name "Alger" refers to a special domestic process.

It is made of the best quality spun silk (called strusas)which gives it an unrivalled regularity, lustrous and softness. The thread does not snarl in the needle and has a good tensile strength. It resists also very well to abrasion. We make great care, great pains to see that this product is properly made. It is considered as a reference thread in all needlework activities. Dyed in skeins to guarantee an homogeneous colour."
